Transparency & Stewardship

At the Community Foundation for Greater Rome, we are committed to thoughtful stewardship, transparency, and accountability in all that we do.

We connect purposeful people with worthwhile projects to build a better Rome—and that work depends on trust. We strive to operate in alignment with nationally recognized best practices for community foundations, ensuring that the resources entrusted to us are managed with integrity and care.

We believe donors should have a clear understanding of how funds are managed and used to support our community.

Leadership

The Community Foundation for Greater Rome is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of community leaders committed to strengthening Rome and Floyd County.

Our Board is supported by committees focused on finance, governance, and donor impact.

Policies

Strong policies help ensure consistency, accountability, and responsible stewardship. Our practices are guided by nationally recognized standards for community foundations.

Community Impact

We work alongside donors, nonprofits, and community partners to invest in projects that strengthen the quality of life in Rome and Floyd County.

Key Areas of Impact:

  • Community grants through the Greater Rome Impact Fund

  • South Rome Community Grants

  • Leadership development through the Ashley Garner Awards

  • Scholarship funds supporting local students

Each year, we support a wide range of organizations and initiatives that reflect the priorities and values of our community. For an overview, please see our most recent annual report.

Stewardship in Practice

As a community foundation, we serve as a long-term steward of charitable funds. This includes:

  • Careful financial oversight and investment management

  • Responsible grantmaking aligned with donor intent and community need

  • Ongoing collaboration with donors, nonprofits, and professional advisors

While we work closely with donors and their advisors, the Community Foundation for Greater Rome does not provide legal, tax, or investment advice. Donors are encouraged to consult their professional advisors when making charitable decisions.
