Community Foundation and South Rome Alliance Award 2025 Grants to Local Nonprofits
The Community Foundation for Greater Rome has once again partnered with the South Rome Alliance (SRA) to support impactful grassroots initiatives in the South Rome neighborhood. In this third cycle of funding, $40,000 in grants were awarded to nonprofits, faith-based groups, and community organizations that serve residents directly and address real neighborhood needs.
This year’s recipients included:
South Rome Free Tutoring Program — $12,000 for summer camp and after school tutoring.
Lovejoy Community Services — $9,195 for their Summer Explosion Camp.
A Teen’s Choice — $9,100 for their C.A.S.H. program mentoring teen girls.
Hight for Sight — $6,000 (matched by a private donor for $10,000 total) to provide free eye exams and glasses for youth.
Oasis Pinxx Dance Studio — $3,705 (matched by a private donor for $15,000 total) for their summer dance camp.
“This is the third year we’ve been doing these South Rome grants, and we’ve been thrilled with the programs that have come out of these grants,” said SRA Board Chair David Williams. The organizations have awarded over $150,000 to the neighborhood since 2023.
These grants are designed for groups led by people with strong ties to South Rome, emphasizing collaboration, creativity, and clear planning to solve unmet community needs—whether through educational, housing, or cultural initiatives.
“Every year, there is at least one proposal from someone not on our radar that wows our grant selection committee. Getting to see and support these innovative projects that make South Rome a better neighborhood is always incredibly powerful,” Jones said.
A Shared Vision for Community Growth
Jennifer Scott, Interim Executive Director of the Community Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to again partner with the South Rome Alliance to recognize and reward positive efforts to improve the lives of Romans.”
This grant cycle reaffirms the Foundation’s and SRA’s shared commitment to empowering Rome’s residents to lead, build, and thrive.
